United States-Kazakhstan joint statement on small business cooperation
(Washington, of December 17, 1999)
On the occasion of the meeting of the U.S.-Kazakhstan Joint Commission, the Co-Chairs of the U.S.-Kazakhstan Economic Reform and Cooperation Committee agreed to promote and develop cooperation and improve the climate for small business development and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Based on satisfactory progress by the Republic of Kazakhstan to create and foster a market economy and a commitment to provide a more open commercial and investment environment, including the necessary legal and financial conditions and business opportunities,
Recognizing the importance of intensifying dialogue on bilateral small business issues, of particular relevance for the support and development of small business in Kazakhstan,
Recognizing small business development as an essential factor in the creation of a market economy in the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as the expansion of bilateral cooperative efforts between the United States and Kazakhstan,
Communicate their intention with regard to the following, under the auspices of a Memorandum of Understanding on Small Business Cooperation between the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Natural Monopolies, Competition and Support of Small Businesses:
